Grants and Sponsors

Turning a piece of unused land into a thriving community garden is a complex process! To make the site ready for the community to use we need to make it secure with good fencing, accessible by laying wheelchair-friendly paths and safe by removing diseased trees. Then we need to connect to mains water (you can't garden without water!), site a composting toilet, and ultimately we have ambitions to have a building on site complete with power for indoor sessions and to make that all important cup of tea!

Much of this works requires funding and we are extremely grateful for the grants we have received, as well as corporate sponsors and every gift and donation, both large and small. Here are some of the grants/sponsorships we have received

The People's Postcode Lottery

In July 2022 we were awarded a huge grant of £25 000 by the People's Postcode Lottery

The National Lottery Community Fund

In June 2022 We were awarded a grant of £10 000 by the national lottery community fund

Cllr Penny Rivers

Councillor Penny Rivers awarded us £2500 in Dec 2021 - our first grant!

Surrey Street Rodders

We were very grateful when local car enthusiasts Surrey Street Rodders chose to donate £1000 to us after their annual fund raising day.

Waitrose

Waitrose has generously donated £1500 to the garden - £1000 from our local Godalming store and £500 from the Guildford store

Community Foundation for Surrey

We are delighted to have received a fantastic grant of £12 000 towards a composting toilet from the Community Foundation for Surrey!

Honey Brothers

Honey Brothers have supported us as corporate partners with the generous donation of tools and equipment

Alstom

Alstom have supported us as practically on the site, doing much of our heavy lifting!

The Royal Horticultural Society

The RHS has supported us with technical advice on site and the award of a £5000 grant

Your Fund Surrey

With the support of Surrey Councillor Penny Rivers, Your Fund Surrey has given us a grant of £24, 238 from their small community projects fund

J Gorringe and Son

J Gorringe and son Funeral directors kindly provided the funds for our fabulous Oak Sign for the garden, which was made for us by Men in Sheds

Lucas Groundworks

Lucas Groundworks have done most of the heavy groundwork for us and have been very generous with extra provision of labour and advice at every stage.
