Watering Can

Our Vision

Our vision is encompassed in the phrase: Growing community wellbeing. We see the garden as being available to everyone in the community and that we literally grow things together, while at the same time growing our community and most importantly our wellbeing.

Working with Karen Blight, our garden designer, we started holding open sessions at the garden in 2023 for the community to come together in order to create and grow the garden, while enjoying the benefits of being outdoors and immersed in wildlife. See below for the times of the sessions.

We aim for the garden to be accessible to all, we now have wheelchair-friendly paths and the site is fully secure with fencing on all sides and plenty of on-site parking.

Watch this space, and subscribe to our news feed in order to receive regular updates as the garden takes shape. You can also Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and the best way to stay in touch is to do both!

Get involved

To get involved in our garden community, simply come to one of our open sessions. There are four open sessions every week:

Saturdays 10-12noon

Wednesdays 1-3pm

Wednesdays (evening session) 5.30-7.30pm UNTIL end of Sept - the last evening session for 2024 will be Wed 25th Sept due to darker evenings.

Fridays 10-12noon

You can simply turn up to any of our open sessions and are welcome to just come and have a look around, or to take part in the life of the garden. This might be with both active and passive gardening, so you could bring your gardening gear and get your hands in the soil, or simply spend time in many of the unique spaces of the garden and enjoy being there. There is no need to tell us in advance that you are coming, and you don't need to be a resident of Farncombe to join in - the only requirement is that you would like to be there! Each session is led by a team leader who will help you to feel welcome and to be part of what is going on.

We have plenty of tools and gardening gloves, and so although you are welcome to bring your own, there is no need to bring anything with you other than suncream if the sun is showing itself. We also have tea, coffee and water at all the sessions and a toilet on site. Children are very welcome as long as they have a responsible adult with them.

Please note that we have decided to keep the garden dog free because some volunteers are not comfortable around dogs, and so we would appreciate it is you did not bring your dog to the garden, apart from assistance dogs of course. Many thanks.
